COVID-19 cannot stop Drew McIntyre as he readies for his upcoming match against Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg in the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble.

WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre vs. Goldberg

WWE knows how to build up the excitement at the start of the year as they announced the return of WWE Hall of Famer Bill "The Myth" Goldberg. The wrestling veteran will meet WWE champion Drew McIntyre in the WWE Championship at the 2021 Royal Rumble.

McIntyre, who just squared off in the Legends Night against Keith Lee, got his excitement cut off by Goldberg when he interrupted the match.

The 54-year-old World Championship Wrestling (WCW) champ told McIntyre that he is challenging him in the Royal Rumble Match. Goldberg said that the Scottish champion had no respect for the WWE legends who came into the organization before him. Goldberg then snapped the moment with a strong push to McIntyre.

The following week, McIntyre accepted Goldberg's challenge and told the older wrestler to put his words in his mouth. McIntyre is not mincing his words with regards to the upcoming royal rumble title match against Goldberg.

According to Bleacher Report, McIntyre tested positive for COVID-19, so he could not go to the Monday Night Raw in person. He underwent quarantine after, but the positive result will not mean that his upcoming fight will not push through.

With the Royal Rumble pay-per-view slated for January 31, McIntyre still has ample time to train for Goldberg.

Goldberg's upcoming fight will mark his first match since retirement, and he hopes to add the WWE Championship to his collection of belts.

Goldberg already got the world heavyweight and the universal belts during his career.

2021 Royal Rumble Card

Men's Royal Rumble match

The biggest names will take part in the 2021 royal rumble match with the likes of Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Otis, AJ Styles, and Bobby Lashley, according to SB Nation. The other 25 participants remain unknown. The 30-man battle royale will be staged again to bring RAW and Smackdown stars into one arena where they can test their talent and look for the last man standing in the ring.

Women's Royal Rumble match

Charlotte Flair, Mandy Rose, Dana Brooke, Bianca Belair, Bayley, and Nia Jax will be the cast in the women's royal rumble. It was only the fourth time for the women's event. The first royal rumble saw Asuka taking the belt in 2018, while Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch clinched the WWE title in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Universal Championship

Although he is already past his prime, Adam Pearce will face Roman Reigns in the Universal Championship. According to SE Scoops, the former five-time NWA champion entered the contention for Friday's Smackdown after being hailed as the last man standing in the Gaunlet match against Rey Mysterio, Sami Zayn, Corbin, Daniel B., and Shinsuke Nakamura.

With Paul Heyman's help, Reigns orchestrated a setup to eliminate Shinsuke Nakamura using Jey Uso. It's now or never for Reigns to launch payback time against Pearce. It's also highly possible for Reigns to face a new opponent in place of Pearce.

Intercontinental Championship

Big E will look forward to defending his title against Sami Zayn. Zayn was stripped of the title during Christmas, and it will take a few days before he gets a shot at snatching his WWE title from the new holder.

United States Championship

Riddle is set to face Bobby Lashley for this title. Lashley was a two-time Intercontinental champion in 2018, but this has not translated to Lashley's dominance in the ring. Who knows if Lashley will regain his popularity as a wrestler or Riddle will get the first big title of his career.

Women's Tag Team Championship

Asuka and Charlotte Flair will brawl with Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. The rematch will be more spine-busting, with Baszler and Jax aiming to avenge their loss to Asuka and Flair in their previous title meetings.
