Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso was released after paying a total of $3,552 following his arrest for possessing marijuana. On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, Caruso was arrested by Texas A&M University Police after under two ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in his possession.
According to the laws in Texas, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana is a Class B misdemeanor and institutes a maximum fine of $2,000 and 180 days in jail. On the other hand, possession of drug paraphernalia is a Class C misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $500, but with no jail time.
The marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found when the Transportation and Security Administration searched his bags before he was to board his flight at the Eastwood Airport in College Station, Texas located on A&M Property.
Found inside his bag was a herb grinder with marijuana inside, said Texas A&M Police Department's Lt. Bobby Richardson.

Will Caruso's arrest affect his chances with the Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers declined to comment on Caruso's arrest. He played at Texas A&M in his collegiate years before signing up with the Los Angeles Lakers.
He will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and having played for the Lakers for two full seasons, it is expected that he will be re-signing with the team. Caruso has been vocal about wanting to continue playing for the Lakers.
Caruso has played key roles off the bench in his stint with the lakers. Last season, he averaged 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game in 58 games with the Lakers.
However, the 27-year-old cager's second full season in the NBA ended with the Lakers getting eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs earlier this month.
