Curry's record-breaking shot came with 7 minutes and 33 seconds left in the opening quarter, with the league's two-time MVP knocking down a tough 28-foot shot from the right wing off a pass from teammate Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors fouled and called a timeout immediately after Curry hit his 2,974th 3-pointer to let their superstar enjoy the moment and soak in his historic achievement.
Players congratulated Curry with his feat, including Draymond Green, who gave his longtime teammate a big hug. Green and Curry have been together for many years now, leading the Warriors to three championships in the 2010s. Head coach Steve Kerr also congratulated Curry on his achievement, handing him the game ball that broke Allen's record.
Curry went across the court to embrace his father and former NBA star Dell, with the fans giving him adulation. Moments later, Curry also got a hug and congratulations from Allen, who was in the building to witness the former break his long-standing record. Sonya Curry was also there to see her son's record-breaking moment, with the two sharing a warm embrace after he was substituted in the first quarter.

Shooting legends and commissioner pay tribute to Curry
After the game, Curry was presented a Warriors jersey with the number 2,974 on the back by legendary outside shooters Allen and Reggie Miller. TNT interviewed Curry following the contest, and he said he had been thinking about the number for a long time. He added that it was pretty special to have this basketball history and that he is blessed for sure.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver also paid tribute to Curry, saying, "It was thrilling to see Steph break the NBA's all-time record for three-pointers." Silver added that Curry revolutionized the way the game is played and that he "continues to leave fans in awe with his amazing artistry and extraordinary shooting ability."
Curry is well on his way to reaching 3,000 3-pointers after knocking down five attempts from beyond the arc in the win against the Knicks. His career total now stands at 2,978 3-pointers after Tuesday's game. Curry played a big role in Golden State landing the road win in New York, scoring 22 points, grabbing three rebounds, and dishing out three assists at MSG.
