Denny Crum, a renowned basketball coach, passed away at 86 years old, as confirmed by the University of Louisville in a statement released Tuesday.
According to the university, Crum, who had been inducted into the Hall of Fame, coached the Louisville men's basketball team for 30 years before passing away in his home.

Denny Crum Known for Calm and Collected Demeanor
Kim Schatzel, the president of the University of Louisville, expressed her condolences and described Crum as a legend who left a remarkable legacy.
Between 1971 and 2001, Denny Crum guided the Louisville team to participate in the NCAA tournament 23 times and win two NCAA championships, making him one of the only 14 coaches in the history of the NCAA who have won two or more titles.
The university also stated that Crum took his team to the NCAA Final Four six times, and only five other coaches in history have led more Final Four teams.
Even after retiring as head coach, Crum continued to work as a special assistant to the university president for many years.
The university also honored him by naming a new residence hall and the KFC Yum! Center court after him.
Besides his impressive statistics and championship wins, Crum was well-known for his calm and collected demeanor, earning him the nickname "Cool Hand Luke" from former commentator Al McGuire.
Schatzel further expressed her admiration for Crum's warm sense of humor and deep love for his community, adding that he will be deeply missed.
Crum is survived by his wife, Susan, and his entire family. The university, the college basketball community, and fans mourn the loss of this legendary coach who has made an indelible impact on the sport.
