The Boston Celtics' star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are set to be eligible for massive contract extensions after making the All-NBA First and Second Teams for the 2022-23 NBA season, respectively.

Tatum signed a five-year $195 million max contract with the Celtics in 2020 and could sign another five-year, $318 million extension in June 2024. The 25-year-old superstar averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, all of which were career-highs en route to All-NBA First Team honors for the 2022-23 season.

Brown, for his part, signed a four-year deal worth $115 million in 2019, which kicked off in the 2020-21 season. The 26-year-old forward averaged a career-best 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists for the 2022-23 season. By making the All-NBA Second Team, he becomes eligible to receive a five-year extension offer of $295 million this summer.

If the deals come to fruition, the Celtics are set to invest $613 million in their star duo.

NBA rules state that players become eligible for the supermax extension if they have completed at least seven or eight years of service and are named to an All-NBA team the previous season or both years before the extension is offered.

Brown completed his seventh season in the league in 2022/23, being drafted by the Celtics as the 3rd overall pick in 2016.

On the other hand, Tatum just completed his sixth season. He was drafted by the Celtics in 2017 as the 3rd overall pick on a draft day deal that had them trade away the rights to the 1st overall pick.
