John Collins Suffers Scary Injury From Poster Dunk of Anthony Edwards

Utah Jazz big man John Collins has sustained a worrisome injury following a powerful dunk by Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards during their game on Monday, March 18, at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The 26-year-old power forward/center has suffered a head contusion from contesting Edwards' poster slam, but he did not pick up a concussion, according to league insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The Timberwolves star slammed the ball hard over Collins' head with a little over five minutes left in the third quarter of the game, eliciting roars from the Jazz crowd despite being the visiting team.

Edwards finished the evening with a game-high 32 points on 13-of-23 shooting, adding seven rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and two blocks in 38 minutes of action.

The Timberwolves took a 114-104 win on the road, completing a season series sweep of the Jazz in their four meetings.

John Collins underwent the league's concussion protocol

Meanwhile, Collins left the game shortly after the dunk and did not return, as he was being evaluated for a possible concussion.

He finished the night with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting, adding six rebounds in 20 minutes of game time. 

Edwards' left hand made significant contact with Collins' head during the dunk, causing the big man to be visibly shaken after the play.
