Jameis Winston 'No A.J. McCarron' ? Willie Meggs, FSU Heisman Winner's Prosecutor Wishes Alabama Quarterback Won [VIDEO]

The man who decided not to charge Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston with sexual assault now says he wishes Alabama's A.J. McCarron would have won the award.

Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs told TMZ the 19-year-old redshirt freshmen leader of the FSU Seminoles, the country's top-ranked team, would not have gotten his vote for the award. He was also personally pulling for McCarron.

Meggs later told the website of McCarron "he was a person of great character," adding Winston is no A.J. McCarron.

Meggs recently announced Winston would not be charged in the December 2012 rape of a fellow FSU student that occurred an off campus party. At the time of his announcement, Meggs expressed reservations prosecutors would be able to gain a conviction against Winston, particularly given the amount of time that had past since the alleged crime took place.

Attorneys for Winston maintained the sex was consensual and Winston has since insisted he knew he would be vindicated because "he did nothing wrong.

The Unbeaten Seminoles face Auburn for the national title on Jan. 6.
