Former Mexican football legend Omar Bravo has been detained on suspicion of child sex abuse, the Jalisco state prosecutors' office said. According to CNN, the authorities stated that Bravo had allegedly assaulted a young girl several times in recent months, and investigators were also examining the possibility of earlier offenses.

Bravo was apprehended during an operation in Zapopan, a city in Jalisco, Mexico. Authorities confirmed that the former footballer will be brought before the court soon as part of ongoing legal proceedings.

Authorities Continue the Investigation

A statement was released by the Jalisco state prosecutor's office detailing the investigation into the case, noting that it is still under close examination.

No additional details have been disclosed due to the sensitivity of the allegations and to protect the identity of the alleged victim.

Bravo has made no public comment to date. The Associated Press tried to contact Bravo's lawyer, but no response was made.
