The Blue Jays were still recollecting the World Series moments. With the loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team is determined to do what it takes to improve its roster.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today threw some gasoline on the fire recently. He is furthering the idea that Toronto is positioned for a major roster boost.

In a popular Blue Jays Today clip, Nightengale let it be known that his bold prediction is in: Toronto will land one of Bo Bichette or Kyle Tucker and add a highly impactful starting pitcher.

"I think they're either going to sign Bichette or Tucker, but not both, and they're going to spend other money on a starting pitcher. Whether it's a Framber Valdez or a Japanese pitcher. I think getting a starting pitcher is more important to them than bringing back two offensive players. I do believe all winter long, they're going to be connected to everybody. I really do believe that."

Why Toronto Prioritizes Pitching Over Two Offensive Stars

The game plan seems simple: Add one elite bat, pour resources into strengthening the rotation. Reuniting with Bichette or landing Tucker would be franchise-changing, but the Blue Jays seem to believe that anchoring the pitching staff with a dependable ace is the true key to sustained postseason success.

Nightengale stressed that starting pitching is higher on the team's priority list than stacking two-star hitters. With a competitive lineup already in place, adding to the mound was what could help balance the roster in taking another step.

Regardless, the Blue Jays need to be quick, since Tucker is also under surveillance by the New York Yankees.

World Series Return Within Reach

Painfully close to a championship, the season ended for Toronto in 2025 when the Blue Jays came up just a few outs short of a World Series win. The core is strong, and some strategic additions might be the final push the Blue Jays need to once again dominate the American League.

Now imagine the scenario insiders are projecting, per Newsweek: the Blue Jays keep Bichette or land Tucker and recruit a premier starting pitcher. That combination instantly makes Toronto one of baseball's most dangerous clubs heading into the 2025 season.
