Private Party, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen, have been conspicuously absent from AEW television since January 22, 2025, when they dropped the AEW Tag Team Championships to The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin).
Their disappearance has sparked speculation about their status in All Elite Wrestling, leaving fans wondering if the popular tag team is done with AEW.
Contract Confusion Keeps the Duo in Limbo
Wrestling journalist Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation during a Q&A on Fightful Select, revealing that the team's absence isn't as simple as a departure. According to Sapp, the contracts of Kassidy and Quen expire at different times, creating a dilemma that prevents a straightforward TV return.
Importantly, neither wrestler's contract has fully lapsed, dispelling rumors that they've left AEW altogether. Sapp noted that both wrestlers bring significant in-ring experience and established personas, making them valuable assets for any promotion.
WWE Eyes Private Party
Sapp also confirmed that WWE has shown interest in signing Private Party, with NXT as a likely destination. While some fans question whether NXT needs a seasoned tag team, Sapp emphasized that their TV experience, charisma, and in-ring skills make them a perfect fit. He even suggested that someone like Shawn Michaels would enjoy booking them, highlighting the creative possibilities they bring.
According to ITR Wrestling, reports indicate that Quen was backstage at a recent AEW event, but no concrete return plans have emerged, suggesting that AEW has no immediate use for the team.
For now, Private Party remains under the AEW contract, leaving their future uncertain. The decision will still be up to Tony Khan whether he will let the two wrestlers explore WWE for a change of scenery.
Last September, The Righteous jumped to WWE. The AEW tag team of Vinny and Dutch became an apparent surprise for the fans.
