The wrestling world is buzzing with speculation over Chris Jericho's next move. With his AEW contract reportedly expiring at the end of 2025, many expected a WWE comeback.
Rumors hinted at a possible debut on the January 5 edition of Monday Night Raw, but recent reports suggest Jericho's situation is far from settled.
Jericho Still Listed on AEW Roster
Jericho remains on AEW's roster page, despite his absence from television since spring 2025. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Jericho is still on AEW's roster page, pointing out that other wrestlers with expired contracts were promptly removed. This unusual listing hints that Jericho may still have ties to the promotion.
AEW Relationship Remains Strong
According to The Takedown, Jericho has enjoyed a six-year run with AEW. Since signing in January 2019, he became the inaugural AEW Men's World Champion and helped elevate stars like Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and Jon Moxley. His last televised appearance on AEW Dynamite in April 2025 ended with a dramatic exit from his stable, Big Bill and Bryan Keith, leaving fans questioning whether it was a permanent departure.
Despite Jericho's absence, AEW management reportedly maintains a positive relationship with the veteran. Sources indicate that while his character may have grown stale with audiences, AEW continues to value his contributions.
WWE Plans Still Unclear
Sources familiar with WWE have told Ross Sapp that Jericho has not been included in any Raw creative plans.
"They said that Chris Jericho has not been brought up creatively as of yet, and that he was not factored into the plans for [Monday's] Raw that they had seen. There was the obligatory 'It wouldn't be the first time we got worked, too.'"
Jericho's last WWE appearance came at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April 2018, before departing to join AEW in 2019, a signing that gave instant credibility to the fledgling promotion.
