Jadeveon Clowney 40-yard dash [VIDEO]: South Carolina star wows spectators at NFL combine after running a 4.47 time?

Jadeveon Clowney finished his stay at the NFL scouting combine on Monday in impressive fashion after clocking in at an official time of 4.53 seconds during his 40-yard dash.

According to ESPN, Clowney, who undoubtedly will be one of the top picks in this year's NFL Draft, impressed many onlookers during the 40-yard dash at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Clowney has had his work ethic questioned in the past, including by his coach in South Carolina and he didn't exactly impress people at the bench press on Sunday.

Monday was a different story.

The six-foot-five, 266-pound defensive end ran a faster 40-yard dash than many of the wide receivers and running backs did just a day before. Clowney reportedly said he was hoping for a 4.4 heading into the event. Clowney has been questioned about his work ethic and his "motor" on the field, but may have taken a step in the direction of proving doubters wrong on Monday.

According to ESPN, Clowney opted to skip position drills due to a hip flexor injury. Clowney bench pressed 225 pounds 21 times on Sunday, something that was a surprise and below many scouts' expectations.

Clowney finished sixth in 2012 in Heisman Trophy voting after posting 13 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss. In 2013, he had just three sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss.

Still, many teams are very high on Clowney and the defensive end is projected to go pretty early in the draft, with some wondering if the Houston Texans will select him at No.1 overall in a move to pair him with J.J. Watt, in a duo that would be a nightmare for other team's offenses, though the team is in need of a quarterback in a draft chocked full of them

While he has come with many detractors, Clowney managed to silence critics on Monday.
