Colin Kaepernick, Aldon Smith Update: 49ers Deny Altercation; QB Doesn't Own Mercedes [VIDEO]

Aldon Smith's exit from the San Francisco 49ers had nothing to do with Colin Kaepernick.

The 49ers have gone out of their way to refute reports from TMZ Sports -- that Smith and Kaepernick got into an altercation at practice -- and MediaTakeOut.com that Smith smashed up Kaepernick's Mercedes Benz.

Report: Colin Kaepernick, Aldon Smith engage in feud over Smith's ex-girlfriend at practice

"I don't drive a Mercedes, let's put it that way," Kaepernick told the San Jose Mercury News after Friday's practice.

Teammates Anquan Boldin and Eric Reid dismissed the reports of a feud between Kaepernick and Smith.

"There was no fight out here," Boldin said. "I don't know where that comes from."

Told that it came from TMZ, Boldin laughed and replied: "You all listen to TMZ? Boy."

Reid, a defensive back, also said a Kaepernick-Smith feud was news to him: "I've never heard of that until you just said it, so I don't know."

Coach Jim Tomsula also shot down the validity of the report of skirmish between the players, which allegedly came as a result of Kaepernick supposedly dating Smith's ex-girlfriend, Nessa, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Niners Nation questioned the validity of the reports of the altercation between Smith and Kaepernick.

"I have actually heard that Kap may not actually own a Mercedes," the site reports. "Additionally, the police report indicates it was a neighbor's parked car and there was minor damage. Jason Cole found a source to tell him that the car hit did not belong to Kap. And I have actually heard from a source that the Kap-Nessa thing isn't even a thing. People get pictures with Kap and they might then look to leak it out or otherwise use such pictures to their advantage.

"This story has since been picked up by TMZ. They originally wrote that there was a confrontation at Thursday's practice. There was no Thursday practice, and I emailed their sports editor about that. The article was subsequently edited to say Tuesday, but no mention was made of the correction. A year ago, TMZ posted misleading pictures about Kap during the sexual assault situation. They offered a correction on that by throwing the independent photographer under the bus. This is a media site that has no problem stretching the boundary of truth as much as possible to get clicks."
