Pending his physical, Allen Robinson II will soon be at the receiving end of Kenny Pickett's passes. The Pittsburgh Steelers are anxious to get Robinson on the field, but they need to ensure first that his spotty injury history is behind him.

High and Lows

His lone season with the Los Angeles Rams lasted only until Week 11, shortly after it was found that he had a stress fracture in the navicular bone of his foot. Up to that point, Robinson had 33 receptions on 52 targets for 339 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games. It was a far cry from his Pro Bowl self, who has broken 1,000 yards three times, leading to his current $46.5-million deal that the Rams are trying to get out of.

Robinson also played sparingly in his last season with the Chicago Bears. He logged only 12 games then, spending quite a time on the reserve list while dealing with COVID-19 and a hamstring injury. He also tore his ACL in 2017 at the season opener with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Steelers and Rams will be swapping this year's seventh-round picks as part of the trade. The Rams will go up to 234 overall, while the Steelers will drop to 251. The Steelers only have to reportedly shoulder $5 million of Robinson's $15.25 million salary. The Rams will cover the rest.

In what could be a polarizing situation for the oft-injured veteran, Robinson is expected to be behind Diontae Johnson and George Pickens in the rotation. Tight End Pat Freiermuth is trending to creep into his minutes as well. Before this deal, there were speculations that the Steelers were interested in drafting a wide receiver. That is fast becoming bleak at best.

Rumors abound, however, that since they traded for Robinson, the Steelers are now entertaining calls on Johnson.
